Job Title: EARLY YEARS PRACTITIONER WITHOUT LEVEL 3 NVQ
Location: London
End Date: 14/07/2024
Hours: 25 hrs per week
Pay: Up to £12.79/hr
1. People Management
· No direct supervisory responsibility however there may be requirement to assist in induction and training of peers and new employees.
2. Resident & Community Contribution
· To demonstrate understanding of the Council’s Customer Care Standards and ensure that these standards are met in order to deliver the Council vision of ‘putting our residents first’.
3. Operational Service Delivery
· Work as part of a team, engaging with children and setting up of appropriate activities that are conducive to supporting the learning and development of young children in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage;
· To ensure all children's activities are set up with appropriate toys and equipment, ensuring a risk assessment is completed and updated regularly;
· To provide a stimulating learning environment both inside and out, that encourages children to learn and develop through play;
· To ensure a basic knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policy and procedure and to report to the Nursery Manager any concerns about children;
· To support the nursery team in delivering a service that is sensitive to the needs of the children, parents and carers from different social and cultural backgrounds;
· To raise parent/carers awareness of the needs of the developing child and to model and share good practice;
· To give consideration to the physical and emotional needs of all children in the nursery's care;
· Where appropriate sign post parents to key workers for support; including for parenting skills and behaviour management;
· To work co-operatively as part of a team;
· To report health and safety hazards to the appropriate health and safety officer;
· To be familiar with accident and emergency procedures and understand the importance of reporting accidents and incidents;
· To assist in the preparation of healthy snacks and drinks for the children;
· To support the children with their individual care needs, e.g. feeding, toileting as appropriate and in accordance with centre policies;
· To maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene for the children (including changing of clothes and nappies as required), equipment and environment; and to assist in carrying out laundry and cleaning duties as necessary.
4. Service Planning & Development- to make suggestions to children’s planning and activities.
5. Financial & Resource Management- not required
6. Continuous Improvement- to make suggestions for areas for improvement and to continuously learn and improve in the role.

8. Additional Responsibilities: Complete other reasonable tasks in order to fulfil role purpose or as required by management.
